11.5.2009 Communications coach Carmine Gallo has summed up the techniques of stellar presenter Steve Jobs, Apple CEO, in his new book and in this Business Week slide show. It’s well worth watching.

Some speakers do not realize how powerful a good PowerPoint/Keynote presentation can be. Their slide shows are covered in dozens of bullet points and words and more words and even more words. A Steve Jobs’ slide will contain no more than 10 words — and often no words at all! Strikingly simple, they rely on the strength of great images.

11.4.2009 For PowerPoint presentations, my clients and I often have to dissect chewy information, overlay a speaker’s intentions and goals, and create a chart or graphic. Data visualization. Here’s an amusing flow chart created from The Beatles Hey Jude.

11.2.2009 The best logo marks are quite simple. A beautifully rendered idea that garners a chorus of “that’s it!” They are all about concept expressed in a single, simple mark or shape in one color. These logos are often dependent upon negative space. Here are a handful of negative-space logos collected by Logo Design Love. Aren’t they clever?
