Quiz: What type are you?

My design-savvy client at East Lake Foundation just sent me this fun quiz from Pentagram. Just click here and enter the password “character.” A Freud-like character will analyze your personality and determine your type. It’s fun!

I found that I’m Cooper Black Italic. And, as you can imagine, I’m not happy about it. Cooper? No, no. Maybe with lots of aggression-management, discipline, and weight-reduction, I can be reset as Archer Hairline.

Thank you, Mary!

What fonts do we have in common?

Let’s say I create an AV presentation and use the font Chalet. When you view it in PowerPoint on your PC, it will substitute that font for another. And it’ll look pretty crappy. To ensure that you see the fonts as I’ve used them, we’ll need to share common fonts.

Here’s a helpful chart of common fonts to Macs and PCs and some examples of what they’ll look like on each system.

Johanna Basford: Tweet this

Pen and ink artist Johanna Basford creates intricate, detailed illustrations of flora, fauna, and whatnot. Her’s are handsome, dense, pattern-like renderings.

Basford’s latest project, Twitter Picture, combines illustration with performance art. Twitter followers can suggest subject matter — 2 donkeys, radio tower with wings, robot soccer players, anything.  Basford will spend a 24-hour period drawing it with Twitter tags back to participants’ tweets. The entire session will be documented in live web streaming via Vimeo. Mark your calendars and follow Basford on Twitter because her next session is Thursday, January 14 starting at 9am.
